As a licensed professional & board-certified music therapist, I know the challenges of the certification exam firsthand. I even experienced the frustration of failing by just one point! That experience, though difficult, fueled my determination to create Melodic Mentor—the resource I wish I'd had during my own preparation.

Meet Kayla
I'm Kayla Stubblefield-Williams, LPMT, MT-BC, the founder of Melodic Mentor, LLC. My journey to becoming a music therapist, and specifically navigating the certification exam, has profoundly shaped my commitment to supporting aspiring professionals. I understand the challenges and uncertainties inherent in the process – I even experienced the frustration of failing the exam by just one point! This experience ignited my passion to create the resource I needed during my own preparation: Melodic Mentor.
​As a music therapist from Charleston, West Virginia, I am passionate about using music to foster healing and growth. I trained at Ohio University and completed an internship at Bridgeway Academy in Columbus, OH, specializing in work with children on the autism spectrum. My professional experience spans a diverse range of populations and settings, including women's recovery, school-based music therapy, and music therapy for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other disabilities. I have also worked with teens in drug rehabilitation, juvenile detention, and prison settings, as well as facilitating moms and babies groups and providing support in labor and delivery. I am also Sprouting Melodies® certified.

Since launching Melodic Mentor in June 2023, I am proud to have served over 140 students, dedicating myself to helping them successfully navigate the board certification exam. My diverse experience, coupled with my deep commitment to music therapy and education, allows me to develop resources and tutoring sessions that are both effective and engaging. I leverage my expertise and personal experience to guide students toward success, providing the targeted support and personalized guidance they need to confidently achieve their certification goals. I believe that every aspiring music therapist has the potential to succeed, and I am here to provide the tools and support necessary to turn those aspirations into reality.
